Andrea Bocelli in concert at the Teatro del Silenzio in Tuscany. Here you find all the information you need to visit the theatre and attend the fantastic show of the famous Italian tenor.

The 19th Edition of 2024 will be sensational and unique. For the first time, there will be three performances to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the career of the world’s most famous tenor, Andrea Bocelli. The first event takes place on Monday 15 July. The second date is Wednesday 17 July and the third show will be on Friday 19 July.

“This is my land. A land that, like me, loves silence. And if I break this silence with my voice, I do it to pay homage to these places and my people. The music penetrates the earth and travels and flies far away. It is a message of love. A land that may seem remote but so full of beauty and meaning. With these words, Maestro Andrea Bocelli describes the village of Lajatico and the Teatro del Silenzio.

The Teatro del Silenzio

Suggestive, surreal, almost mystical, The Teatro del Silenzio rises in the splendid setting of the Tuscan countryside, between yellow wheat fields and gentle green hillsides. A place of peace and tranquility where you can contemplate the silence surrounding you, in absolute silence.

The Teatro consists of a natural, open-air theater created in 2006 by the will of Maestro Andrea Bocelli who is a native to this part of Tuscany.

This unique place remains silent for most of the year. And that is the reason why they call it a theater of silence. For 364 days a year, you can visit it freely. The location is simply stunning. A wall of thick blocks of Tuscan travertine embraces an artificial pond from which art installations rise, which changes every year, making the theater even more beautiful. Just once a year it comes alive for an incredible music event, the concert of the tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Where is the Teatro del Silenzio?

The site is located just outside the village of Lajatico in Valdera, Tuscany, a short drive from the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Etruscan town of Volterra, two of the main attractions of Tuscany.

If you are based in Pisa, a visit to the countryside of Valdera and Lajatico is a great idea for a day trip. It is an interesting part of Tuscany, almost out of the mass tourism routes. Pisa is just 50 km away and about 50 minutes by car.

Instead, if you just want to stop at the theatre, I would recommend adding a visit to the close lovely town of Volterra.

Andrea Bocelli in Concert 2024: Monday 15, Wednesday 17 and Friday 19 July

Every July, Andrea Bocelli performs on the stage of his theater together with international stars of music. Since 2006, the Teatro del Silenzio has seen on stage pop music singers, tenors, and friends of Andrea Bocelli including Laura Pausini, Roberto Bolle, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Gianna Nannini, Zubin Mehta, Carla Fracci. It is an epic show that attracts visitors from all over Italy and abroad.

MONDAY 15 JULY 2024, WEDNESDAY 17 JULY 2024, and FRIDAY 19 JULY 2024 are the dates of the 19th edition of the event. The show will take place in Lajatico, at the Teatro del Silenzio starting at 8:30 pm. Gates open two hours before the show, at 6:30 p.m.

You can buy tickets online on Vivaticket. Prices start from € 191,52. Avoid any other website selling tickets for a crazy amount of money. Unless it is an authorized ticket online seller for the event.

After registering on the website (easily using your Facebook or Google accounts as well), you can finalize your purchase and download your digital ticket without having to print anything.

Tickets for Andrea Bocelli in Concert

There are different kinds of tickets:

  • Executive tickets, the most expensive
  • Poltronissima,
  • 1a Poltrona,
  • 2a Poltrona,
  • Poltroncina
  • Tribuna non numerata.

Executive tickets include the best seat, access to the Executive Area, a bracelet that gives you the right to access the VIP Hospitality, a welcome drink before the concert, an exclusive gift, a show booklet, one parking lot next to the theatre for each transaction (not for each ticket, pay attention).

Poltronissima, 1st and 2nd Poltrona, and Poltroncina mean a ticket with a reserved seat in the pit, the parterre on the ground which is closer to the stage.

The Tribuna non-Numerata ticket refers to the grandstand. It is a kind of general admission ticket with no reserved seat. Only when you enter the arena you will be able to sit in the remaining empty seats.

At the time of writing, it seems that the concerts of 17 and 19 July 2024 are already sold out. Instead, ticket sales for the additional July 15 date begin on March 1.

The stage for the show is open-air. In case of cancellation due to bad weather, they do not provide any refund but they already rescheduled the event for the day after, the 28th of July 2023.

How to get to the Teatro del Silenzio

The best way to get to the Teatro del Silenzio is by using the car, both on the day of the concert and on other days of the year.

Pisa is only thirty minutes away and Florence is about an hour. From both cities, you need to take the freeway Superstrada FI-PI_LI and get to the exit Pontedera or Pontedera/Ponsacco. After that, you easily drive along the Strada Statale 439 Sarzanese Valdera which crosses the Pisan countryside.

USEFUL TIPS ABOUT DRIVING IN ITALY

If you fly to Tuscany specifically for the concert, Pisa is the closest airport in Tuscany but Florence is also OK.

Public services are not well organized in the middle of the countryside. The closest train station is Pontedera and the nearest bus stop is in Lajatico. But from this point, the only way to get to the Teatro is by foot. This is not impossible to do considering that Lajatico is only 1 km out of the burg.

Get to the teatro del Silenzio by private transfer for Andrea Bocelli Concert

A valid option on the concert day is to arrange a private transfer. Many car companies organize this service on the occasion of the Bocelli concert. Surely the hotel where you are staying may help you find the best solution to your needs.

The local Tour Operator Arianna and Friends, based in Peccioli (nearby Lajatico), sells exclusive packages for the Andrea Bocelli Concert. They may include the best tickets available, assistance for the day of the event, and private or shared transfer to the Teatro from different places in Tuscany as Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and San Gimignano for example.

Where to park at the Teatro del Silenzio

On regular days you can park your car next to the arena and with a short walk, you reach the center with the lake and the huge sculpture.

On the day of the event, Lajatico and the area around the theater are off-limits to welcome, in the best possible way, the big crowd. For this reason, we recommend reaching the theater well in advance. It will not be difficult to cheat the waiting time by eating something or admiring the sunset light coloring the Tuscan hills. The organization provides three different parking lots for those arriving by car.

Parking La Sterza

You find the largest parking lot in the locality of La Sterza, 500 meters (0.3 miles) from the entrance of the theater and next to a restaurant called Da Pasquino. It is open from the morning and free of charge. You can reach the Teatro taking one of the free shuttles available starting at 5 p.m. The shuttle service is available also for return at the end of the show.

Parking Poggio al Lupo

The second option, but smaller, is the parking Poggio al Lupo, just 300 meters (0,19 miles) from the entrance. It opens at 5:00 pm and costs € 2,00. Here you find both toilets and some food trucks. To reach it, turn to take the road “San Giovanni to Lajatico” from the main road SS 439, and follow the signs to the parking lot.

Reserved Parking for Executive tickets

People who purchased Executive tickets have their own reserved car space at the parking Executive located at the end of the Strada della Mandriola, just next to the entrance of the Teatro. The access will be granted only after having shown the Executive ticket.

Reserved Parking for People with Disabilities

People with disabilities have access to the Parking Executive, the closest to the stage. It is located at the end of the Strada della Mandriola. To access it, you need to show your ticket and the reservation email for the seat in the exclusive area for people with disabilities. Access to the parking is possible starting at 5:00 pm and a special shuttle will take people inside the theater.

Where to sleep close to the Teatro del Silenzio

Despite the most people get to Lajatico just for Andrea Bocelli’s concert, we recommend spending a few days in Valdera. As I said it is a lovely part of Tuscany with lots of little burgs and food experiences to make. Here is a little guide to check what you can do here.

A SMALL GUIDE OF VALDERA

Another reason to sleep in Valdera is the possible cancellation of the concert in case of bad weather. There is no refund and usually, the recovery of the show is scheduled for the next day. So, if you don’t want to waste money and the opportunity to listen to the unique Bocelli voice, I would consider the idea of booking a couple of nights somewhere in the area.

We highly recommend the Agriturismo Casale Le Torri which is approx. 35 minutes from the theatre. This renewed old country house, surrounded by olive oil trees and cypresses, is an oasis of calm and relaxation. Easy to reach by car, I know the staff which is super nice and helpful with their Guests. Moreover, they also have a lovely pool to refresh yourself before the concert.

You can book a room at Casale Le Torri here

Moreover, there are also other options to choose from in Lajatico. Take a look at the following link.

  1. Melinda says:

Hello Nicola, thank you for this information. Can you suggest any other accommodation for us to stay whilst attending the Andrea Bocelli concert July 2022? Any accommodation that may offer transport to and from the concert? Is it difficult to get two seats together at the concert when our only option is to buy the general admission tickets? Regards,

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Melinda, thanks for contacting us. I suggest you contact the local Tour Operator “Arianna and Friends”. I have just spoken to them. They are locals and have different options to offer you on the occasion of Bocelli’s Concert, from the full package to just the “transfer from/to” the Teatro. You can find it on ariannaandfriends.com and via email at info@ariannandfriends.com.

        • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Louise thanks for the comment. To be honest I do not know. However, from what I read on the official website, big buses are required to park in the parking lot set up at LA STERZA and use the free shuttle buses provided by the organization. I believe you can park your motorhome in this parking lot and use the shuttle. The distance from the shuttle bus stop to the entrance of the Theater is about 500 mt.

      • David says:

Hi Nicola – I attended the concert last THursday in Lajatico and there was no programme – I am unable to find details of Andrea’s guests and the songs they performed and as respected the Video rule , dont have detials – Can you assist please

  2. Angelina Foti says:

    Hi Nicola
We are four people from Sydney and wish to enquire for 2023 Andrea Bocelli concert and accommodation package at Teatro del Silenzio . Can you please advise . Grazie mille.

      • A. says:

Zeer slechte organisatie.

  3. Julie Jo Sedberry says:

Is it possible to bring in drinks to the concert? Wine or other alcoholic beverages or is it sold in the theater?
We have scheduled transportation already to the concert from Florence !
    Thank you

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Hi Nadia, sorry for the delay. We are not the ticket office for the event. Try on vivaticket.com which is the official marketplace for tickets. Otherwise, contact the agency Arianna & Friends to check if they still have packages including tickets.

  4. Eli says:

We travelled cross hslf the world to See the greatest Bocelli and walked out very insulted and disappointed, as he barely sang ……
Others sang, but we did not do this travel for them, we came to see Mr. Bocelli and listen to HIS voice, not all the others !!!!!!!

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Eli, I am sorry to hear that. We read excellent reviews about the show. But I can understand your frustration if your expectations have been disappointed. We are not part of the organization but an independent voice and we do not know what the show includes. We know that every year he makes a different show and invites musicians and singers from Italy and other parts of the world to sing with him. Bocelli, obviously, is the main attraction of the event, but it has never been just a “solo” concert. I hope you can still take home positive memories of your trip to Tuscany. Nicola

  5. Cary says:

    Hello Mr. Bandini,
My name is Cary, and I have followed Mr. Bocelli’s since his beginnings. I was going to see him 3 yrs ago in the American Airlines Arena, & then got cancelled. On December 18th 2021, my son Danny gave me a ticket to see him & I enjoyed the concert greatly.
My dream is to visit him in Tuscany, & see his concert in Teatro del Silenzio. Is this concert always offered in July? I would love to plan a trip for that time, but I thought it was on April. I don’t have any social media, ( don’t like it) but I do have email.
    Thank you
    Cary

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Cary, thanks for writing. 🙂 The event at the Teatro del Silenzio always takes place at the end of July. For sure I will update the article in the future with new dates and information. However, the show has an official website so you don’t need to have social media to get updated. 🙂 I tell you a funny story. I am from Tuscany and I have been living there all my life but the only time I saw Andrea Bocelli in real was in 2015 at Rockefeller Center in NYC for the Xmas tree lighting. Lol.

      • Rujni Hall says:

Hi Nicola, thanks for all the info very helpful. I really want to book for next year 2024 because I cant make this year. Do you know when the dates are for this location next year or when the tickets go on sale? I’m trying to plan a solo trip but feeling neverous about it, any things I should be aware of or keep in mind when travelling here on my own? Or are there any groups of solo travellers that I could connect with that are also travelling here?

        Any advice is appreciated
        Thanks

  6. Kedi says:

Hi! Greatly enjoyed the 2022 concert – my tour having been cancelled twice before. I thought Maestro Bocelli was in good voice. David Garrett absolutely amazing. The sight of the Maestro riding his horse along the field by the exit path after the concert, ie gone midnight – unreal!
My question is what is the meaning of the parade at the beginning, the drapes on tall poles, figures with painted faces, some carrying globes etc etc?

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Hi Kedi, to be honest, I don’t know. I wasn’t at the show and just watched what you shared here on the blog. I think it’s just choreography. Perhaps it may refer to the historical processions done in Italy during anniversaries or historical re-enactments.

      • Kedi says:

Thanks for replying – yes I also thought that it was supposed to be historical – some of the people in the procession looked pretty weird though! Perhaps I will find out more when I return to Tuscany in October.
Further to comments about the concert – Andrea Bocelli has always introduced both singers and instrumentalists in the Lajatico concerts, often duetting with them, alongside his own solo performances. I love the various YouTube clips of the 2007 event, duets and solo. I thought the 2022 balance was acceptable, although obviously I would have liked to hear him sing more❤️! For whatever reason, some people had left/were leaving before the final three items, Con te Partirò , Perfect and Nessun Dorma – what a finale! Always stay to the very end if you can – you never know what you might miss!

  7. Kedi says:

Further to earlier message – YouTube clip of the opening of the 2022 concert to a new song “Borgo Natio” . Has the parade some kind of local or Tuscan relevance? Would appreciate an explanation, thanks.
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cXaX_fa8fqo

Really did not help not having a programme (I know “executive” seats came with a programme), a performance list or written details on the big screen.

  8. Zilvinas says:

Nice post Nicola, very informative and detailed! Thank you!
Most of people, including me, expect the same show as it was in 2008 as that’s what you see in the media mostly.
I was in Tuscany in 2018 and was disappointed, since it was nothing close to that what I’ve expected. It was the opera with some episodical Andrea appearance . Still, I was lucky since I’m few hours flight away from all of this. Others not so much – I’ve met a guy who flew all the way from New Zealand for 30+ hours, expecting to see the same show as in 2008. So he was not so ”pleasantly” surprised as you can imagine
Anyway, I’m still having hope that some day, one of those shows will be something similar as in 2008. So my question is – Nicola, do you have any idea what type of show it will be in 2023? Is there anywhere I can check this? I can’t seem to find any info on this.
I’ve heard rumors that they don’t tell until there is couple months left until the show.
Would appreciate any information you might have.

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Zilvinas, thanks for writing. Unfortunately, I have no answer to your question. I don’t know what kind of show Bocelli did in 2008 not even what he did in the past few years. I only know that there is a different theme and choreography every year. That he is not the only person who is playing, but He invites famous singers, both Italian and international. They may perform duets. I understand that if someone buys a ticket thinking that Andrea Bocelli will perform all night, may be disappointed.

  9. Joshua Teixidor says:

Nicola, thank you for this information. We are staying at a resort near San Gimignano. We would like to have an early lunch and drinks prior to the show. A couple of questions.
1 . what is the best time to get there to beat the rush.
    2. Suggestions on really nice where to eat and have drinks prior to the concert?
    3. I thought of maybe organizing a picnic prior , any suggestions on location access to public and nice views.
4 I know it will be warm but not having been in this region during this time , would you recommend an outdoor picnic?

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Joshua, thanks for the comment. I think a picnic is a great idea. The countryside around San Gimignano is lovely and the country road to reach Lajatico and the theatre is fantastic. You could approach the theater late in the morning. Explore the Valdera region, visit the villages of Peccioli, Lari, or Lajatico, and have lunch at one of these places. Take a look at this content about Valdera:
Car Parkings open at 5 pm, and the theatre at 6:30 pm. If you are there at 5 pm you won’t have too many problems with the crowd. The weather is good during the summer. It may also be too hot. It is definitely a good idea to find a shady place for a picnic.

  10. Angharad says:

We’re looking fro transport from Pisa to the concert and return back. We have tried Arianna & Friends but they are full. Can you please recommend anyone else or any private taxi firms? Thank You

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Angharad, I am so sorry to hear that. The day of the concert is a busy crazy day. I give you a couple of numbers but I am not sure about their availabilities and prices because they bring there, they wait for you and then they bring you back home in Pisa (which may be quite expensive that day):
Giovanni (Versilia Drivers NCC +393203832360) or Mr Piero Antonio De Vito (+39 3298298464)

  11. Marc Peters says:

Hello, We would like to visit with 7 people the concert of Andrea Bocelli in his home town in Tuscany in 2024.
Do you already have a date when this will take place? And when do you expect the ticket sale will start?
Can you put me on your newsletter, so I won’t miss the date.

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Dear Marc, many thanks for the comment. This is not the official website of the event. Unfortunately at the moment I do not know the dates of next edition. As soon as I have news I will update my content. Usually the date is at the end of July (the last sunday) but I cannot grant it.

  12. Nico vd Westhuizen says:

Many thanks for such an informative explanation and guide. We are coming from South Africa and naturally, a bucket list event for my wife and I. I am concerned about the possible weather influences and no refund policy. As you can imagine, a lot of time and money spent on the arrangements.

    • Nicola Bandini says:

Hi Nico. I understand your concerns. Consider that during the month of July it is really difficult to get rain. They usually propose an alternative date, the following day, but I have not found any indication of that at the moment.

  13. Victoria Lanzillotta says:

I would love to go see Andrea this year as we will be in Chianni during these days! I will have my 1 year old with me. Do the general admission seats accommodate a stroller? And does he need a ticket (I read that under 6 they are free as long as they don’t take a seat)
