Summer festivals in Tuscany may be a good reason to plan a trip to this wonderful region of Italy. Between a visit to an arty town and a drive along the scenic roads of the countryside, you could take a break listening to good music to one of those great events in Tuscany with local and international stars.
The Main Summer Festivals in Tuscany
Here a short list of the main summer events in Tuscany from June to September:
Firenze Rocks
Artists the likes of the Tools and The Smashing Pumpkins (13 June), Ed Sheeran (14 June), Eddie Vedder (15 June), The Cure, and The Editors (16 June) will perform on the big stage of the Ippodromo del Visarno of Florence

Florence 4 Ever – Cancelled
The 8th June, the house of Fiorentina Football Club hosts a unique event with the participation of two stars of the music: Mariah Carey and John Legend. For both of them, the concert in Florence will be the only date in Italy.
Lucca Summer Festival
Lucca Summer is the main of the summer festivals in Tuscany. This year it is at its 22nd edition. Every June and July big international stars play in the Piazza Napoleone, the beautiful square in the historical center of Lucca. The reunion of Take That will open the Festival on the 28 June. The day after, on the magnificent location under the historical wall, Maestro Ennio Morricone will delight the crowd in one of his last concent. Other headliners of this edition are Toto (5 July), Elton John (7 July under the Walls), Tears for Fears (10 July), New Order + Elbow (12 July), Mark Knopfler (13 July), Eros Ramazzotti (16 July), The Good & The Bad & The Queen (20 July), The Scorpions (27 July), and Sting (29 July).

Pistoia Blues
The beautiful Piazza Duomo of Pistoia is the set of this great festival that every year attracts thousands of fans from Italy and abroad. This summer 2019, two dates are already confirmed:
- 6th July: Thirty Seconds to Mars
- 8th July: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
- 10th July: Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals
The concert can be a good reason to visit Pistoia which is a really interesting town, out of the classical paths of Tuscany.

Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago Puccini
If you love Opera and classical music, you cannot miss one of the Operas of the Puccini Festival. This summer 2019 the 65th Edition of the festival takes place from 12th July to 24th August. The open-air theatre along the lake of Massaciuccoli of Torre del Lago Puccini hosts operas such as Tosca, Turandot, Madame Butterfly, Aida, La Bohème, Manon Lescaut, Le Villi, and La Fanciulla del West.

Bocelli at the Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico
This special open-air theatre, created by the great Andrea Bocelli in his birth land of Lajatico, hosts every summer one of the most exclusive and requested music show by foreigners. Dates for the event 2019 called Ali di Libertà are the 25th July and the 27th July. The show of the 25 is already sold out, but some tickets left for the event of the 27.

Other music summer events in Tuscany
Barga Jazz
During summertime Barga, the most Scottish town in Italy is a lively town with many art and music events such as the Barga Jazz Festival. Usually scheduled from the end of July and August, this jazz festival for composition and arrangement for orchestra can be the opportunity to visit and enjoy this tiny village.
Valdarno Jazz Festival
July is the month of the most interesting jazz festivals in Tuscany, in the Florence and Arezzo area. The festival always alternates famous international and Italian creative musicians.
Festival delle Colline Pratesi
Usually held in July in the towns of Prato, Poggio a Caiano, Vaiano, Villa Giamari in Montemurlo and at the Rocca di Carmignano, we are still waiting for the program of the edition 2019.
San Galgano Festival
The unique and amazing San Galgano Abbey was the scenery of operas as the Barber of Seville, the Rigoletto or the Merry Widow and piano recitals. This summer 2019 the wonderful Abbey hosts six events from 30 June to 19 July. A flute performance on June the 30th, a special show dedicated to the Maestro Morricone on July the 4th, Beethoven classical music the 14th and a musical dedicated to the Via Francigena as happy ending the 19th.

Jazz Wide Summer in Pisa
The small beach along the Arno River, in the historical center of Pisa, hosts every Saturday from June to September jazz bands to liven up the warm summer evenings.
Bolgheri Jazz
Every first weekend of September, the narrow alleys of Bolgheri hosts this little festival dedicated to jazz music. Don’t miss a special opportunity to listen to good music and drink a glass of the extraordinary Bolgheri’s Red.
